GUAVA COCONUT WATERMELON SPARKLING MOCKTAIL

Hopefully, you’ve had a chance to check out my other mocktail, and you already know how much I love creating fun, flavorful drinks that fit every mood, season, and occasion. I have so many mocktails up my sleeve, and I’ll be sharing them all year long, so whether it’s spring brunches, summer gatherings, or cozy fall nights, there’s always a refreshing sip waiting for you. And if you’re taking part in Sober October, this mocktail will make you feel like you’re not missing out at all!

If you’ve never heard of Sober October (also known as Dry October), it’s a month-long challenge to skip the booze and focus on better physical and mental well-being. It’s gained a lot of traction lately, especially here in the eastern U.S., where I happen to be mixing this one up! Speaking of that, my Guava Coconut Watermelon Sparkling Mocktail is the drink that’ll make you forget there’s no alcohol in it. The juices blend perfectly with the spicy kick of a homemade Tajin rim. This one is so, so good!

I absolutely love how these flavors come together, and I think you will too. So, let’s get to it!

HOW I MADE-OVER THIS MOCKTAIL:

I know this is a drink, but it still packs benefits!

Guava juice adds a boost of vitamin C and antioxidants that support glowing skin and immune health. Coconut water keeps you hydrated and replenishes electrolytes, keeping this mocktail light and refreshing. Watermelon juice brings natural sweetness plus lycopene, which supports heart health. The Tajin rim, made with chili powder, paprika, chipotle, and a touch of salt, adds a flavorful kick and provides trace minerals that help boost metabolism and make every sip pop.

Who’s ready for a sip?

This recipe is nut-free, gluten-free, refined-sugar-free, egg-free, dairy-free, soy-free, paleo, grain-free, vegetarian, and vegan.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

(Use organic ingredients when possible)

Guava juice
Sparkling coconut water
Watermelon juice
Lime
Chili powder
Paprika
Chipotle powder
Salt

THIS IS HOW YOU’LL MAKE IT:

This drink couldn’t be any easier to make!

First, I like to make my own seasoning mixes because I can make them organic and they won’t have any other unnecessary, weird ingredients.

Mix the chili powder, paprika, chipotle, and salt in a small bowl that’s wide enough to fit your glass for rimming. Stir well to combine, or mix it in a bowl first and then pour it onto a plate for easier dipping.

Slice a lime in half and keep a few wedges for garnish. Grab your glasses, use a lime wedge to wet the rim, then dip it into your spice mix. Next, add ice, frozen watermelon cubes, or reusable cubes so they don’t dilute your drink.

Now it’s time to build your mocktail! Pour in the guava and watermelon juices, then top it off with sparkling coconut water. Stir gently to mix everything together. Always use pure, no-added-sugar juices to keep this mocktail clean and healthy!

I really hope you can find Harmless Harvest because it’s so good; the way they balance the coconut water with the sparkling water is worth it. But if you can’t, just mix equal parts coconut water and plain sparkling water to get that same refreshing balance. It’ll still taste amazing. If you can find it, use pink coconut water. Harmless Harvest and Trader Joe’s both have pink coconut water, and I think it tastes even better than regular coconut water.

Here’s a fun little fact: coconut water naturally turns pink when its antioxidants oxidize after exposure to light. Harmless Harvest uses Nam Hom coconuts and a gentle micro-filtration process instead of heavy heat, which helps keep its nutrients and that pretty pink hue.

Add a lime wedge if you’re in the mood, and finally, your mocktail’s ready to sip!

Sober October who? This mocktail proves you don’t need spirits to lift yours.

Bottoms up!

SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

Serve this mocktail ice-cold in a rimmed glass and garnish with a lime wedge or a small piece of watermelon.

For a fun twist, freeze extra watermelon cubes and use them as your ice. They keep the drink chilled without watering it down.

MITA’S MUST-KNOW TIP:

When perfecting any recipe, the right amount of salt, spices, and sweeteners depends on the size and flavor of the produce you use, and that might be different from what I used when I developed this recipe. Your zucchini might be tiny compared to mine, your strawberries could be on the verge of being jam, and your tomatoes might be less tomato-y than expected, so taste as you go! If you add more veggies or swap anything in, a little seasoning tweak might be needed. You can totally make this dish your own, and if you go a little overboard, you can probably fix it. But tasting often means you won’t need a backup plan… or a backup meal!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: I’m a total punk when it comes to spice. Do I have to rim the glass with Tajin?

A: I understand and feel the same way sometimes! You can skip it or tone it down by mixing a little chili powder with more salt and paprika for a milder flavor. You’ll still get that tangy edge without the kick.

Q: I don’t have guava juice. Can I use something else instead?

A: Hmmm, good question. I haven’t tested this one with other juices yet, but I’m pretty confident that pineapple or passion fruit would taste amazing here. Both have the right level of tang and sweetness to balance the coconut water and watermelon. Let me know how it turns out!

Q: Can I make a big batch of this mocktail for a party?

A: You can totally do that. Mix everything except the sparkling water in a large pitcher, chill it, and add the bubbles right before serving so it stays fizzy.

STORAGE AND LEFTOVERS:

If you want to make this mocktail ahead, you absolutely can! Just don’t add the sparkling water until the last step so it doesn’t lose its fizz.

You can also prep the Tajin rim in advance and store it in an airtight jar for up to two weeks.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Pink coconut water isn’t just pretty; it gives the drink a slightly richer taste and a little extra sweetness.

Trader Joe’s and Harmless Harvest both make great versions that work beautifully in this recipe. Trader Joe’s keeps its pink coconut water in the refrigerated section with the other juices.

I only use pure juices without any added sugar.

NUTRITIONAL VALUES:

I don’t include nutritional values in my recipes because I believe in intuitive eating and balanced nutrition. Since ingredient brands can vary, the numbers aren’t always consistent. If you’d like a more accurate breakdown, I recommend entering this recipe into MyFitnessPal or a similar tracker.
